How to Support an Employee in the Life Event of Grief
Presentation Learning Objectives:
As a society we are not comfortable talking about grief, many times it is considered a taboo subject. The death of a love one is as much as a life event as the birth of a child or a marriage. In the workplace we celebrate birthdays, births and weddings. When an employee’s loved one dies, we rely on our bereavement policy and many times it ends there. What do you do when the employee returns to work? Their grief does not go away just because they returned. How can you support a grieving employee when they return to work? Grief has as much of an impact, if not more, as other life events; it is one of life’s greatest challenges which has a profound impact. You are there for your employees for other life events, are you there for them in their grief? This program will discuss how grief effects employees, ways employers can provide support to their employees beyond the basics when they return to work and for days, weeks, months & years to come. This program will help you be “that person”, “that employer” to make a memorable impact which your employees will not forget
- Understanding how grief effects employees
- Business reason for supporting employees in grief
- Ways to support employees when returning to the work place after the loss of a loved one
